Go Toward the Light

We had lots of wind here yesterday and it knocked out power for lots of people around the state. I was one of the "lucky" ones! The boys and I get home yesterday afternoon to no power. Twin B kept saying our powers were gone - LOL! I decided to make a fun evening of it. I got out the flourescent camp lanterns and we read and played and just had fun. Twin B kept lamenting how he just wanted to watch tv. He's only 3 1/2 and he's already a boob tube addict. The power still wasn't on at bedtime so I took one of the lanterns into their room for a night light. This morning I was getting ready by lantern light because the power STILL wasn't back on. I heard the boys very quietly open the door to their room and I heard Twin B whisper "Let's go to mommy's room...I see light"!

I sure hope our powers aren't gone by the time we get home tonight!

One Stop Shopping

I never used to be much of a fan of Wal-Mart or the Wal-Mart Supercenters. Now that I have small children and every penny counts, that opinion has changed. Take today for instance. I dropped my car off to get the oil changed, went inside and ate lunch at the McDonalds inside of Wal-Mart, got my hair cut at the salon also located inside Wal-Mart and did my grocery shopping. I have been known to get a pedicure at the nail salon also located within the store. I think there's also a bank in there if I ever need to do my banking there. I could also get an eye exam and buy glasses. I'm pretty sure Jackson Hewitt has a booth there right now to get your taxes done. Oh, and I almost forgot the photography studio. I'm sure I have left something out! It's just so much easier to get everything done in one errand instead of running around town all day. I think I was there for 2 hours and got all of that done.

Where's the camera when you really need it?

I'm going to have to start taking my camera with me when I pick the boys up from school. They have some dress up items and costumes in their classroom. I've gone to get them several times when they had on one interesting getup or another. Sometimes Twin B would have on some pink flamingo sunglasses (which look just great with the red hair by the way). Today took the cake though when I walked into the classroom and Twin A yells "Mommy, look at me"! He was so proud of his costume. He was wearing a huge pink cowboy hat and a gold sequined belt!!! I say again, where is the camera when you really need it?

Whoa, Man!

Twin B: "I love womans (pronounced whoa mans)"
Twin A: "Kitties eat womans...pause...Mommy, you're a woman"

Er...excuse me, I need to go make sure the cat's bowl is full!

Vocabulary Lesson

The boys got guitars for Christmas. They have watched their grandfather play guitar all of their lives, so they know you're supposed to use a guitar pick. They also each got a guitar pick for their guitars. At some point on Christmas morning, Twin B had put the guitar down to go play with another toy. He came back later and wanted to know where his ding ding was. What?!? I finally figured out that his ding ding was his guitar pick.
Here are some of my other favorite mispronuciations and phrases:
Instead of piglet, it's pligget
Dessert is zurt
Pancake is pan-a-cake
Diaper is biper
Burger is booger and vice versa
Instead of saying mama hold me, they would say I want to hold you mama - they still do! I love that one.
Instead of all day or all day long, they say all day morning
I wish I had recorded some of this because it's just so darn cute!

Noah the Pirate

"Mommy, look at all the animals in that pirate ship".

The pirate ship in question was Noah's Ark! Who knew Noah was a pirate?!?

Waving with her tail

I picked my boys up from daycare today, and when we came outside we saw a man and his son and their dog. The boys ran up to the dog. I was telling them to ask first if they could pet her. The dad said it was fine - the dog was friendly. She was barking because she was so excited. The boys petted her for a while and then they started to leave. I told the boys to tell the doggy bye-bye, and they both say "bye-bye doggy". As they were walking off, the dog was wagging her tail. Twin B said "Mommy, she's waving bye-bye with her tail"! That's one of those priceless moments. So, what did your kids do to make you smile today?
