More Vocabulary Lessons

Here are a few more cute mispronunciations and/or ways of saying things:

moten control = remote control
My voice talks funny (strep throat/swollen tonsils)
currful = careful
Anything that happened in the past was last weekend
marks = markers
puh-ay-no = piano
lippies = lipstick/chap stick
My Twin A has such a country twang. When he sings Jingle Bells, it sounds like Jingle bales (like hay!)

Just a few of the things that make me smile! Do your kids have cute mispronunciations or made up words they like to use?

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY BOYS!!!

Here are some pics of the first few weeks - the first time I got to hold the boys at the same time and the day they got to come home. Twin A was born at 8:25 a.m. 4 years ago today weighing in at 3 pounds 13 ounces and 16 1/4 inches long. Twin B was born at 8:26 a.m. 4 years ago today weighing in at 3 pounds 4 ounces and 16 inches long. After spending 6 weeks in the NICU they finally got to come home!

Artwork

I absolutely love these photos. Check out CeCe's Photography and Alyse's blog for more of her wonderful photographs. I just love her pics. I wish I lived closer so I could have her do portraits of my kids. Oh, well, I'll have to settle for what I can find online!

I don't know how to close my eyes

I thought I'd heard every excuse in the book to stall going down for a nap or for bedtime...I need a drink, I need my special blankie, I need more stuffed animals, I need to give the dog a kiss, I need to use the potty, I need more extra kisses (I always give them kisses in their hands in case they wake up and need one), I need to tell you something, I want another light on or off, I want to push the button (on the cd player with their lullaby cd), etc. Last night Twin B came up with a new one for me. When I told him to close his eyes, he told me he didn't know how to close his eyes. He said it in THAT voice too, like I've known this forever and how could I possibly ask him to do that! There's something new and different every day with these guys, and I love it!

So, what do your kids do to put off going to sleep? This one ought to be very interesting!

TGIF

This has been a really long week for me. I'm so glad it's Friday. The boys are going to a classmate's birthday party tomorrow at one of the inflatable jump places. They'll have lots of fun and hopefully take a really good nap when we get home! I'm busy getting ready for their birthday party on the 2nd. It's going to be at the Museum of Discovery and it has a pirate theme. The kids will be given a treasure map and will get to look for the hidden treasure in the museum. They'll also get to make some pirate crafts (eye patches, hats, swords, etc.) and they'll get a visit from a live animal. It sounds really fun. The best part is that I don't have to clean up when it's over!!!

I'm also trying to get ready for school. They start Pre-K on August 18th. So far, I have bought back packs and a few uniform items. They don't have a really strict uniform, but they have to wear khaki or navy shorts or pants, and polo-type shirts in red, yellow or light blue. Of course, there are also a butt load of supplies to buy. I'm actually excited about the uniforms since that will make dressing so much easier in the mornings.

What's keeping you guys busy this summer and what big plans do you have for the weekend?

Privates for Sale?

This morning while I was getting the boys dressed, Twin B took off his underwear and Sophie started licking him. Gross, but okay, that's what dogs do. Twin B covered himself up and said "No, Sophie. That's my peenie!" She got that sad look in her eyes and sort of cowed down. Then he said "It's okay, Sophie. We'll get you a peenie." I tried my best not to roll on the floor laughing.

Anyone know where I can buy a spare private part for my dog?!?

Swimming

My best friend and her daughter came over last night to come swimming with the boys and me. We had a lot of fun. Twin B went away from the steps and let his floaties do their work for the first time ever!!! Twin A is well on his way too...he's just not quite ready to let go of the wall yet.
So...what are you doing to beat the heat this summer?

CrockPotting Again!

I found another great recipe here. It's for Crockpot Bacon & Cheese chicken. I'm so confident my family will love it that I'm posting about it before we eat it! How can you go wrong with cheese, bacon & ranch dressing? Check out the recipe at the Year of CrockPotting website. This is a great site with many great sounding recipes!

What are you cooking?

Groceries

With the price of fuel constantly on the rise, it seems like the price of everything else is on the rise as a result. Between daycare, putting gas in the car and buying groceries, it seems like I don't have much money left over for anything else. I recently discovered a way to save on groceries. Angel Food Ministries offers a box of groceries for $30 (more than half off what you would pay at the grocery store). It's a non-profit, non-denominational organization. There is no income limit, so anyone can use this service. There are also extras that you can order in addition to the $30 box of food. I think this is a wonderful service and I wish I'd heard about it sooner. It says it will feed a family of 4 for a week, but looking at the menu for July, it looks like it will feed the boys and I for much longer than that.

What price-saving tips have you been using to offset the rising cost of fuel lately?

Backyardigans Live

The Backyardigans Live! Tale of the Mighty Knights is coming here the week after the boys' birthday. They've never been to any of the live shows like this. I just got tickets for all of us to go. That will be their birthday present from me. I hope they love it!
How old were your kids the first time you took them to a movie or a live show?
