Best Friends and Worst Enemies

My boys are always telling each other "I'm not going to be your friend any more" whenever they hurt each others feelings. They'll even go so far as to say I'm not going to live by you when I get big. Today on the way to school though, I asked Twin B who a girl in his class was and he told me they played together. I told him that she said he was her best friend. He said "She can't be my best friend because Twin A is my best friend". It's things like this that make all the craziness worth it. My babies really do love each other! At least I know I'm doing something right.

Awww, that's so sweet! I knew a family, once, that wanted so much for their twins to develop different personalities that they pushed them to not be friends. They hung out with different people. By 6 or 7, they even had a chant that they'd say about how even though they were twins, they hated each other.

It was funny, though. As much as they tried, they could sort of intersperse and talk as if they were one person. They couldn't get away from being twins, as much as they wanted to!

I definitely don't push mine not to be friends, but I did separate them in school this year so they could each develop their own friends and become their own people without being seen as just twins. I hope they are very close as adults and always have a close bond to one another.
